Aileen has also opened 12 outlet stores of its own on the East Coast and plans to have 20 operating by the end of the year. “They’re doing exceptionally well for us, better than anticipated,” Walker said. He added that in the past, Aileen handled only direct orders. “That meant we had to wait until the final contract was signed before ordering zippers, buttons and other notions and we made just as many garments as were ordered. As a result of waiting for those orders, we sometimes had our people sitting around with nothing to do.
