When he was a baby bunny, Moppsy moved to the historic Washington House. He was supposed to be a dwarf rabbit — at least that’B what the folks at the Warrenton pet shop told the Eldreds.
His hosts had no reason to doubt it. Moppsy was a cute little six-week-old bit of fluff just big enough to stuff into the palm of one hand.
That was a year ago.
He’s now a "wellmuscled, large strong” 18 pound rabbit with ambitions, according to his trainer, Fran Eldred. During an exclusive interview last week, Moppsy announed he is planning to compete in the biggest bunny category of the RAAC Pet Show to be held on Fodderstack Race day.
Also, he has chosen to become the Rappahannock resident Easter rabbit. “He was supposed to be a dwarf bunny, but he decided that wasn’t his bag,” Eldred recently confided to the impressed press. “So he just kept growing. He wanted to be an Easter bunny. And because we needed a Rappahannock resident Easter bunny, he sacrificed his tiny life.”
