Crawford said the Postal Inspection Service is now investigating several business firms. Anyone who believes a "COD Scheme” is being conducted could assist by contacting the U.S. Postal Inspector in Charge, P.O. Box 26009, Richmond, Virginia 23260-5009, with their information. If a violation of the Federal Mail Fraud Statute is indicated, the matter will be referred to the office of the United States Attorney for consideration of criminal prosecution. In appropriate cases, civil action might also be pursued under the Postal Misrepresentation Statute.
