During the pest year, the American Cancer Society helped 16,769 of Virginia's 27,467 cancer patients with rehabilitation or other services such as transportation, information and counseling, equipment loans or home health care. And in an attempt to make its services available to all Virginians, the Society offers a cancer answer line, a tollfree statewide telephone information and referral program that provides information about cancer, treatment services and facilities. Virginia residents may call 1800-662-7996 anytime. The phones are maimed during normal business hours; at night and on weekends, calls are recorded and then returned the next working day.
