In fact, if the Eldreds dare to go to a carnival and return home without cotton candy for the rabbit, he lets them know his discontent by kicking his big feet and screaming at them.
And yes, rabbits do talk. Fran says Moppsy is especially verbose during his dreams. “He snorts and snores while he sleeps,” she confesses.
“At times he demands attention,” she continues, noting that he nibbles the skin and hits and pushes people’s arms in order to get petted. He also likes to have his stomach rubbed. That makes him close his eyes and wiggle his nose and stretch his toes; he just loves it.
Clean Living
“House rabbits make marvelous pets,” Eldred adds, noting that she’s amazed by the number of customers who come into the store and see Moppsy there, then say that they used to have pet rabbits a long time ago. (Moppsy often helps out at the Washington House of Reproductions during his free time.)
Rabbits are warm and soft and they don’t catch rabies or distemper, Eldred says by way of listing the virtues of her species of pet.
