Woodstock in Shenandoah County had the first Aileen outlet store to open and Culpeper the second. According to Walker, both offer a full line of women’s apparrel at reasonable prices.
The 12 outlet stores join Aileen’s five sewing plants of which the Flint Hill operation is the largest. The othere are located in Culpeper, New Market, South Hill and Victoria. A plant in Edinburgh handles only knitting and dying of fabric while the Woodstock plant does just cutting and shipping.
Walker reported that he expects to further increase the work force employed in the Flint Hill plant’s cutting and sewing rooms and finishing department. “We’re still hiring,” he said, noting that Aileen’s weekly payroll there now tops $60,000. “We’re now on a nine hour per day schedule , open from 6:15 to 4:30, plus an additional mandatory four hours on Saturdays.. .We look very strong for the remainder of this year, very strong. ”
