Ted Walsworth isn’t new to running, just to the Fodderstack race. The Washington resident and county juvenile probation officer runs all the time. “Except from December to March. Every year I’ve gotten a cold and had to stop just before the Fodderstack. This year. I’ve finally made it through the winter. I’ve been eating Vitamin C like M&Ms,” Walsworth said.
He competes every September in the Virginia 10 miler in Lynchburg, building up to that distance by the end of the summer. “This year, I’m way ahead of my usual training point so I’ve got a head start, running six miles now,” Walsworth said. But despite the regimen, he’s not making any predictions on his finish this Saturday. “I just don’t want to embarrass myself,” he added, with typical modesty.
