All citizens interested in improving the education of our children, please come to the public hearing of the 1984-35 school budget to be held in the elementary school auditorium this Monday night at 7:30 p.m. Your support is needed! Among other issues, the addition to the high school and teacher’s salaries are at stake.
Post cards are pouring into the mailbox of Richard and Becky Gore from their worldly daughter Ellen. First, from the mountainous Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where she was attending a four-day nursing workshop. Now, she’s in the “Land Down Under” with kangaroos, koalas, and Aborigines! Well, actually, she has many friends with whom she is staying in Brisbane, Australia, on the Pacific Coast. Ellen says the Australians are so very friendly!
Among all the lovely sights, Ellen is cruising the Great Barrier Reef this week anticipating the beauty of the colorful, coral formations in the warm, tropical waters. The last portion of her two-month vacation after flying to New Zealand will be a great reunion with her old, college friend in San Diego, California. What can we say ole chap— Ellen is having a wonderful time!
Ellen graduated from Rappahannock County High School in 1961. She also graduated from Mary Washington College and the University of Virginia in nursing. She was a Captain in the U. S. Army before taking her current job as Educational Coordinator in Nursing where she resides in the cool state of Montana. Keep those exciting postcards coming my “cobber”!
All of Castleton is saddened by the passing away of the charming and vivacious Mrs. Edward Pawley on April 13, 1984. Our deepest and warmest sympathies go out to Edward. We will miss her dancing eyes and expressive nature at the dear age of 86.
