Two weeks ago, a window was smashed in a Washington business. Last weekend, hoodlums broke into a church. They didn’t take anything, according to the sheriffs department. They just broke in.
We don’t have an official crime watchers network here or a tipster reward program like the one operating in neighboring Fauquier County. But we can still respond to Sheriff John Henry Woodward’s call for citizen assistance.
We urge anyone who witnesses the wanton destruction of private or public property to contact the sheriffs department with the information. This senseless vandalism is costing us all in money and aggravation. More importantly, the unthinking vandals need to be stopped before they move on to bigger things.
