“Warts are caused by a virus”
Plantar s warts, the household term, is derived from the plantar or bottom surface of the foot. Researchers nave isolated a virus and proven that this is the cause of these stubborn and common growths. However, researchers have also admitted that they are no closer to a cure than they were years ago.
There remains many varied treatments for warts. Surgical excision, application of mild acids, and even ultra-sound (a modality used often by athletes for injuries) are each used with some success. Certain warts are still difficult to treat while others are quite simple. We feel the difficulty lies in the immunity system of each individual. The smaller and fewer in number the warts are, the easier they are to treat.
