A former second-place winner of the Fodderstack Race, held annually in Rappahannock, is winning big in Florida.
John Guthrie, 28, now a resident of Smyrna Beach, Fla., beat 246 runners in a 10-mile beach run June 30.
In doing so, Guthrie posted his best time ever 54:18.2 minutes. He has won six of nine races entmd to date this year.
Guthrie is the son of John and Helen Guthrie of Castleton. He and brother Joe, 33, are owners of Smyrna Sports Shop in New Smyrna Beach.
