Only $700,000 is available statewide for community improvement grants; $22 million, however, is up for grabs in planning grants.
To do something about its problem of water distribution, Washington needs a community improvement grant. Due to a point system that determines which locality gets what, Washington probably won’t qualify for a dime.
“There’s no question that we’ve got a water distribution need,” Mayor Peter Kramer said. “We don’t have the funds.”
“Can Rappahannock score enough points to even be considered?” Councilman Newbill Miller asked Mr. Fuller.
“If you can come up with a good enough project, then it’s possible to score enough points,” Mr. Fuller responded.
