While regional, traditional music has a long history in the United States, the upsurge in the 50’s, of a national folk “tradition” was both a musical and a social phenomanon; The Weavers” provides insight into how this actually took shape and flourished.

In addition to The Weaver’s” there will be two short films by Tom Davenport, an independent filmmaker based in Delaplane, Va.

His work has included several highly acclaimed documentaries of the rural South, among them “The Shakers” a historical overview of America’s oldest and most successful experiment in communal living, and “Bom For Hard Luck,” a portrait of the black medicine-show performer Arthur “Peg Leg Sam” Jackson.
