Expressing tears that Rappahannock County could someday face the intense growth pressures and population concentrations currently plaguing Loudoun, Fauquier and Prince William counties, nearly all of the 30 or so speakers at Tuesday’s public hearing supported the idea of passing a zoning ordinance.

But the complaints registered against at least parts of the proposed amended ordinance equalled the number of people who stood to speak.

Still, an informal count recorded a majority of those who spoke as favoring the ordinance as presented at the two-hour hearing Tuesday night.
