Congressman Burr Harrison
was at the post offices of the county to greet his many friends.
While at the courthouse in Washington, the congressman spied a weed growing on the Courthouse Lawn.
Plucking the green specimen from the earth, he presented the item to Her Honor the Mayor, Mrs. George H. Davis Jr.
Rev. Norman Flythe won first place in the womanless beauty contest at the Rappahannock County Fair. Dr. John Snead won second place and William Moffett third place.
Nineteen men from Rappahannock County have been called for physical examination at Ft. Meyer.
American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 245, which organized in 1947 at Sperryville, was granted permission to place a plaque in the courthouse at Washington in memory of the men and women from the county who served in World Wars I and II.
Archie Bailey, Peter Estes and Jacob Sisk combined to win seven ribbons for exhibiting their hogs at the Atlantic Rural Exposition in Richmond, competition open to 4-H members and Future Farmers of America chapters.
