Mr. and Mrs. Clarence W. Jenkins hosted their annual family reunion on Sept. 29 with the largest gathering they have ever had.
Mr. and Mrs. William Gibbs were hosts to a party on Sunday in honor of Mrs. Gibbs’ mother, Mrs. George Butler, Sr., who celebrated her 76th birthday on Saturday. She received many nice gifts and wishes for many happy birthdays.
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Hitt, of “Cypress Nolee,” drove to Berryville on Saturday to bring Mr. Hitt’s grandmother, Mrs. Jenkins, home from the nursing home. Her daughter, Mrs. Buster Hitt, Mr. Hitt and Winfrey, entertained Mrs. Jenkins on her 80th birthday.
A Friday guest of Mr. and Mrs. Cary Thornhill was their daughter, Mrs. Harry Morrison, of Winches- J ter.
Glenn Cave, accompanied by his brother, William, of Luray, spent the weekend in North Carolina where they attended the Charlotte Motor Speedway Races.
Paul Fincham, of Leon, and Mrs. Dolly Lamb, of Reva, were guests during the weekend of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fincham and Peggy.
Reverend Charles Clindinst announced that the gospel singing will be held again this Sunday at the Sperryville Exxon from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Guests on the program this Sunday will be gospel singers C.W. and Barbara Vanover, of Gordons ville, and the public is invited.
Miss Heidi Antanoff, of New York City, spent the weekend at Meadowood with Mrs. Lorraine Robson.

Sadness has struck former citizens of our county who now reside in Washington, D.C. They are Lanise Waites, who was employed by the Rappahannock Medical Center, and her seven-year-old daughter, Jessie, who attended Sursum Corda School and has recently been diagnosed as having acute leukemia. Jessie is presently undergoing expensive chemotherapy at the Georgetown University/Vince Lombardi Cancer Center in Washington, D.C.
Because her mother is unable to afford the treatments, there will be a “Jessie Waites Benefit Dinner” at the Castleton Fire House on Oct. 25 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Twenty-four accomplished cooks will delight your taste buds with delicious lasagne and assorted meat and meat loaves — no two alike! T. Reynolds and Barbara Jolly will knock your socks off with their scrumptiously baked, garlic French bread! All right!
