Horseback riding lessons The Child Care and Learning Center is offering horseback riding lessons by Moody Aylor at The Old Mill Stables in Sperryville. The beginning date has been extended to Oct. 15. The children will ride bus #12 after school to the stables and the lessons will be for one hour for eight consecutive weeks. The cost can be divided between two or three payments. For more information, call the center at 675-3237.

Methodist women plan ‘yard & bake sale9 The Amissville Methodist Women will hold a “yard & bake sale” on October 19, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Amissville Methodist Church. Soup, sandwiches, and desserts will also be sold and served in the fellowship hall of the church. They will also sell pecan halves. Come and support these ladies.
Sperryville harvest dinner The Sperryville Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a fall harvest dinner on Oct. 19 at the Sperryville Fire Hall. Prices will be $6 for adults and $3 for children. Serving time will begin at 5:30 p.m. All donations will be appreciated. “Following the Annual House Tour and Dried Flower Sale, come and enjoy an old fashioned fall harvest dinner,” said Auxiliary President Cecil Baldwin. Recorder lessons The Child Care and Learning Center is offering recorder lessons beginning Oct. 26 for eight consecutive weeks. The instructor will be Lorraine Resting from Huntly. The recorder lessons will be offered to children eight years old and up and for adults. If you would like the center to order the recorder and music, please register no later than Oct. 18.
