“One time, there was a piece that Alica kept marking the price up on because she wanted it, so I finally told her to take it home,” Ned said. “I’m going to keep this oak dresser.”
They work together at the shop on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. “We’re hoping to have someone else keep the same hours for us on Thursdays and Fridays, but we’re committed to the shop on the weekends,” Alica said.
She said that business has been surprisingly good for the shop due partly to the weekend weather. “I think that we’ll have repeat customers when they find out our hours,” Ned said.
Alica and Ned both have fulltime jobs during the week. Alica works as a business administrator for a software company, and Ned is a fireman in Prince William County.
They have lived in Rappahannock since 1981, and they are building a new home. Ned and Alica plan to keep the “Enchanted Forest” open year-round.
“It is nice to be on our own,” Alica said. ‘We like being independent.”
