Research seminar
On Nov. 2 at 9 a. m., there will be an all-day seminar on Virginia research at Culpeper Junior High School.
Bob Clay, chief of the reference desk at the Virginia State Library, will share his extensive knowledge of Virginia archival records including geography of Virginia, migration into and out of Virginia and records of all types pertaining to Virginia research — colonial, state, county, municipal and non-official records, such as church records and personal papers.

Flint Hill harvest dinner
The Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary will sponsor a harvest dinner at the fire hall on Oct. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu will be Old Virginia ham and turkey with all the trimmings.
Senior Citizen program
A senior identification program will be held on Saturday, October 19 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sperryville Antique Market in Sperryville. The program is sponsored by Rappahannock-Rapidan Community
Services Shop
The Washington Ladies Auxiliary Thrift Shop will be open Oct. 21-25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Special bargains will be featured throughout the week.
Wakefield book fair
Wakefield School in Huntly will hold its first annual book fair from Oct. 15-17 in the school’s gymnasium. A poster contest is underway providing students in grades 1-12 with an opportunity to design a poster advertising the book fair and to win a book.
Librarian June Ruhsam said the book fair will have titles for all ages with a nice group of hardback books suitable for Christmas giving. New bookplates have been designed that will permit parents to give books-to the library in their child’s name.
