Christopher Columbus may have sailed the ocean’s blue in 1492 and discovered the New World, but this year we celebrate Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 14.
In honor of the Italian explorer, county offices are closed, as are banks and federal post offices.
In addition, the Family Guidance Services of Washington are closed Monday. The clinic staff can be reached in case of emergency by calling 675-3329.
Otherwise, schools are open and the news and business offices of the Rappahannock News will operate under normal business hours.
