The hearing on the variance was adjourned to Oct. Ill at 7:30 p.m.
In other business, the BZ A denied a variance request submitted by Kermit Weakley by a 3-2 vote.
Weakley sought the variance so he could build a carport on to his garage. He said that it would be used to protect his travel trailer from snow and other harsh weather.
"I have back problems, and 1 won’t be able to go out and clean it off this winter,” Weakley said. “The house didn’t conform to the set-back requirements the ordinance when I bought it because it was built before 1970.”
Eldred said Weakley's request did not meet the ordinance’s definition of “undue hardship" if the variance was not granted.
The town BZA will meet on the fourth Thursday of every month at 7:30 p.m.

The Building Trades Department at Rappahannock County High School is offering free landfill items including broken brick and block and chunks of concrete.
Materials can be secured by ca mg Mr. Vickers during the sch< hours at 675-8575.
Also, the department is in need of a time clock for use with students in carpentry.
