An itinerant worker was
killed and another laborer stabbed in the neck in an apple orchard near Flint Hill.
John W. Baxter was dead on arrival at Warren County Hospital of gunshot wounds and Nathanial Wells was in serious condition with a knife wound to the throat.
Germanna hosts
speaker series
Members of the faculty and staff of Germanna Community College in Locust Grove are presenting a series of lectures on Friday afternoons.
The Oct. 18 topic is “Arts of the Japanese Swords” presented by Richard Stein.
“Gen. Robert E. Lee — College President” is the topic for the Nov. 1 lecture by Jackson Sasser.
And, on Nov. 15, Gayle Wolfe will speak on “Life in a War Zone — Beirut Today.”
Each lecture is set to begin at 12:15 p.m. in the college lecture hall (room 56). Each presentation is free and open to the public, sponsored by the Germanna Community College Faculty Senate.
