4-H provides professional leadership for programs planned and implemented locally by volunteers. These volunteers receive training provided by Extension agents, other volunteers and Extension specialists at Virginia Tech and Virginia State.
Camping programs at Virginia’s six district 4-H Educational Centers served more than 12,000 4-H youth last summer. The various camps offered at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center at Front Royal during 1985 were attended by 1,760 campers. An additional 50 boys and girls, ranging from age 6 to 12, attended the 4-H day camp held in Rappahannock County. Camp programs provide away-from-home group living experiences, emphasize outdoor learning activities, skill development, confidence building and constructive recreational activities.
