Front Royal Oratorio Society
spring musical
On Sunday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Front Royal Presbyterian Church, the renowned Front Royal Oratorio Society will herald the coming of spring and culminate their 25th year celebration.
Under the artistic directions of Ronald Johnston and accompanist Beverly Clark, the group will present one of its most memorable programs. Shubert’s Mass in G will open the program accompanied by a string ensemble and pipe organ. Frostiana, the work of Randall Thompson and featuring the poems of Robert Frost, will surely please the ear and lift the spirit. Thompson’s Allelulia will close the program.
The recital promises to be an outstanding musical experience music lovers will not want to miss. A reception in the church fellowship hall will make the evening completely delightful.
Fashion show planned
A fashion show entitled “Tally Ho!” will be presented on Sunday, April 20, at 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock Elementary School.
The show is sponsored by the Rappahannock Woman’s Club. Members of the club are currently seeking patron ads. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Woman’s Club Scholarship and the Rappahannock County 4-H Day Camp.
Culinary demonstration
The Goose Creek Herb Guild announces that Susan Belsinger will give a culinary demonstration on cooking with herbs at their April 17 meeting at 10:30 a.m. at the Middleburg Community Center. Ms. Belsinger co-authored the book, Cooking With Herbs, with Carolyn Dille, and will use some of its recipes in her demonstration. Persons interested in attending the meeting should make reservations by calling 777-1787 or 777-8420 after 5 p.m.. All reservations must be made by Wednesday, April 9.
Volunteer training program
The Women’s Abuse Shelter Inc. will hold a volunteer training program on April 7, 10, 14 and 17 from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Culpeper Presbyterian Church.
The shelter provides services to battered women and children in Rappahannock, Fauquier, Culpeper, Orange and Madison counties. Volunteers play a vital role in the existence of the Women’s Abuse Shelter. For more information or a registration form, please call 825TURN or 349-0309.
