“There’s gold in them thar hills. ” Not actually but there is a new goldsmith designer in Washington who works with gold as well as silver.
Christopher Goodine, formerly of New Hampshire, has relocated to Hume, and has recently opened his workshop on Main Street in Washington. He said he “moved from the northern Appalachians to the southern Appalachians and that fortunately spring comes earlier here.”
An avid hiker, Christopher and his wife, Dr. Jean Goodine, who is an English teacher at Northern Virginia Community College, have found a hiker’s paradise here in the county.
Christopher decided that Washington was a good place for a goldsmith designer because it would complement and work well with the other arts and crafts businesses here.
Christopher has worked at his trade for 16 years. He is a member of the New Hampshire League of Crafts, established in the 1930s to help craftsmen who were working out of their homes during the depression.
Primarily working with gold and silver, Christopher crafts his jewelry from beginning to end and all of it is of his own original designs.
