To the editor:
I would like to take this opportunity to clarify and correct last week’s article on the Game Commission’s hearing in Richmond.
The main reason I attended this meeting is because as time passes 1 see many people turning against hunting because of the irresponsible and illegal actions of a very few. I eiyoy hunting very much and hate to see public sentiment turned against hunting.
I feel your article last week made me out to be anti-hunting, which is absolutely wrong. I am pro-hunting. The last Game Commission meeting I attended I supported Rappahannock orchardists and requested an additional deer be added to our bag limit to help control populations. At this meeting 1 made the following points.
1. That certain areas in the county experience terrorism from a very few hunters who disrespect the law and rights of other people. To illustrate briefly this point I mentioned the cases where people have been punched out. there had been property damage, and in fact there is a 60-year-old widow in Rappahannock County who had shots fired into her home. This same widow was forced off the road in her small car
