“My sister Dawn attended the school three years ago. She was in the history and law section. That really encouraged her to go into the law field,” Jonathan said. “Now she’s double majoring in pre-law and French. It seemed she really benefited from going to the Governor’s School so I hope I will, too.”
Eduard Welch, son of Jonas and Bill Welch of Flint Hill, will attend Radford University and participate in the visual arts program.
All students will participate in daily sessions or seminars related to understanding in an interdisciplinary fashion. Performances and exhibitions by fellow students, faculty and visiting artists, as well as field trips, will be included in the program to enrich individual perceptions about the arts.
Eduard commented, “I’m looking forward to the high intensity study of the graphic arts which is not usually offered in the school because the courses are generalized for learning in all areas. In the Governor’s School, you’re taught one specific area in one specific interest that you have.”
