Rappahannock County High School Juniors Jonathan Watson and s Eduard Welch have been accepted for the Governor’s School for the Gifted, and for four weeks this summer will attend a high intensity study program in a field of their choice.
“The Governor’s School for the Gifted is designed to provide, within a community of mutual support, respect, and dedication, intellectually challenging and enriching experiences for a limited number of rising 11th and 12th grade high school students who are academically gifted and/or artistically talented.”
Rising juniors and seniors are eligible to attend if they are academically gifted or artistically talented, if their over-all achievement in school work is acceptable, and if they are residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
More than 900 students throughout the state were nominated for the Governor’s School. However, only 500 students were selected to attend on the basis of their records and the best professional judgement available.
