David Courson, president of the Christian Emergency Relief Team (CERT), will speak after the 11 a.m. worship service in the Trinity Episcopal Church parish hall on Nov. 20.
The Christian Emergency Relief Team recruits volunteers for twoweek mission assignments in response to medical emergencies worldwide.
CERT volunteers provide medical care, food, clothing, Bibles and other relief supplies in times of crisis.
Mr. Courson will speak about CERTs aid to Nicaraguan refugees living in the war zone along the Honduras/Nicaragua border.
Last year Trinity Church sponsored a “Shoe Box Project” in cooperation with CERT. More than 100 shoe boxes filled with items such as toothpaste, soap, bandages, socks, matches and other personal items were collected. These shoe boxes were delivered to Christian refugees along the Coco River in Hondpras.
The kick-off of this year’s “Shoe Box Project” will be held in connection with Mr. Courson’s visit to Washington, on Nov. 20. Members of the community are invited to attend and participate in the “Shoe Box Project.”
