More than 500 local youths will be mobilizing for two weekends in November to help feed the hungry in the area served by the Shenandoah Area Council.

Organized by the Shenandoah Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Scouting for Food Good Turn will involve Scouts and volunteer leaders from the ninecounty area in an effort to collect 20,000 cans of food. The local appeal is part of a national Good Turn being conducted by the Boy Scouts of America which seeks to ease the food problem for the more than 20 million Americans who go hungry at some time each month.

Reaching their goal, Scouts will be supplying the Blue Ridge Food Bank as well as local food pantries in surrounding counties.
