The accreditation process is rigorous. The first stage of self-study began last fall with the classroom observations, conducted in turn by the teachers and Mrs. Flinchum, who then compared notes and condensed findings for a single summary.
Parents were asked to complete lengthy questionaires, CCLC administrators filed reports and teachers evaluated themselves and their peers, all in line with the detailed instructions set out in the 220-page accreditation manual.
“We compiled all that information and measured our programs against the Academy’s standards, and then we looked at our weak areas as judged by their standards,” explained Mrs. Flinchum. “We wrote plans for improvement for •ach teacher, addressing both their classroom programs and their training.”
