To the editor:
I would like to thank all those who participated in the second Community Recycling Day held on Oct. 5 at the county park. A total of approximately 1,000 pounds of glass (versus 300 pounds collected at the first recycling Saturday), 40 pounds of aluminum (versus 20 pounds) and one ton of newsprint (versus 500 pounds) were collected. Totals for other materials collected are not yet available.
Chuck Stinnett, president of Piedmont Recycling, will be at the Rec Center again on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9-11 a.m. only, for the third Community Recycling Day.
In addition to clear, amber and green glass, aluminum cans and newspapers, he will also accept plastics. Only the HDPE-type plastic will be collected. These include milk and juice jugs, bleach bottles, car oil containers, six-pack rings and dish
