BLACKSBURG — A senes of 10 farm and small business income tax conferences will be held across Virginia in November and December to explain recent changes in federal and state tax laws.
The conferences are designed for persons who assist taxpayers in preparing and filing income tax returns. They are being sponsored by the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service in cooperation with Virginia Tech’s continuing education program and department of agricultural economics, the Virginia Department of Taxation, the Internal Revenue Service and the Small Business Administration.
The conferences will be Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 14-15 at the Richmond Sheraton Airport Inn; Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 1617 at the Charlottesville Omni Hotel; Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 21-22 at the Natural Bridge Hotel; Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 28-29 at the Roanoke Airport Marriott Hotel; and Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 30Dec. 1 at the Bristol, Tenn., Holiday Inn.
Also, Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 5-6 at the Williamsburg Fort Magruder Inn; Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 7-8 at the Virginia Beach Sheraton Inn; Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 12-13 at the Dulles Marriott Hotel; Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 12-13 at the Fredericksburg Sheraton Inn; and Thursday and Friday, Dec. 15-16 at the Richmond West End Holiday Inn.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the first day of each conference, with the programs going to about 5 p.m.
A special farm tax workshop will be taught by L. Leon Geyer, Tech associate professor of agricultural law and economics. There is no additional charge for these workshops.
