opens season

The opening concert of the Winchester Chamber Orchestra’s 198889 season will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. in the auditorium of James Wood High School, Ridge Campus, in Winchester. Tickets are available at the door: general admission, $12; seniors and students, $9.

The concert will feature music by Ravel, Mozart and Virginia composer Allan Blank. The concert will be conducted by the Winchester Chamber Orchestra’s Music Director, William David Gregory.

The Winchester Chamber Orchestra is made up of 35 professional musicians from the Shenandoah Valley as well as from the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., metropolitan areas. Critics have praised the WCO *

as “a championship orchestra” and have lauded the group’s consistently high quality of performance and choice of repertoire, an orchestra spokesman said.
