Forestry tax workshops also will be held at selected sites. They will focus on capital expenditure rules, reforestation tax incentives, interaction with cost-share payments, handling timber income and casualties. Harry L. Haney Jr., Tech Extension forest management specialist, will teach the workshop.

The forestry tax workshops will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 in Charlottesville, on Dec. 7 in Virginia Beach, on Dec. 12 at Dulles, and on Dec. 15 in Richmond. It also will be offered from 5-7 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Roanoke and on Dec. 6 in Williamsburg.

Subjects at the main conferences will include an update on the 1986 Tax Reform Act, loss limitations, alternative minimum tax, net operating losses, rulings and cases, programs and problems, small business problems and individual retirement accounts and retirement distribution.

The $115 registration fee at all locations covers educational material, luncheons, breaks and two bound texts. It does not include lodging.

Registration will be accepted on a first-come basis and if a class is filled, a second choice will be given. Enrollment will close one week before the start of each conference.

A set of four, one-hour cassette tapes covering many of the workshop topics is available. The $7 tape by University of Illinois agricultural law professor C. Allen Bock can be ordered at registration.
