Be nice, but complain to restaurants and supermarket managers and other outlets about packaging. Thirty to 40 percent of the waste stream is simply packaging, and many other products have too much of it or use plastic when another material would do. Praise store managers for bulk food sales. Avoid disposables. (Now that’s a big order!)
Tell store managers what you want; maybe they will go along with you. Occasionally take time to write to companies whose products and packaging need improving; tell them you care. It all adds up.
