“Mr. Miller (State Sen. Kevin Miller) won’t help us much with this one,” Mr. McCarthy said. “It’s another one sponsored by his brother.” Del. Clinton Miller of Woodstock sponsored the bill to require county officials to register like lobbyists.
The House Privileges and Election Committee killed the bill last Wednesday. “The ground swell of local governments’ opposition was intrumental in convincing swing votes on the Committee,” Mr. McCarthy wrote in a note sent Monday to the supervisors.
Del. Miller also sponsored a bill that would force localities to allow mobile homes that are at least 19.5 feet wide and skirted in Agricultural zoning districts. That bill passed the house and is now in a Senate committee. Similar bills have passed the house and been killed in the senate before.
