Another of Del. Miller’s bills that Mr. McCarthy brought to the supervisors attention would have limited the ability of public bodies to hold public hearings on subdivisions. That bill was killed in committee.
Another bill introduced by Del. Miller would eliminate groundwater studies before granting subdivision plats. This last power Rappahannock and other jurisdictions sought last year and received when Sen. Kevin Miller sponsored the bill in the Senate. This bill has passed the house and is in committee in the Senate.
Another bill Mr. McCarthy brought to the supervisors’ attention was HB 677. It said that “Special exceptions and special use -permits shall not be used to regulate, control, or prohibit the subdivision of land or residential density.”
