Joseph F. Silek Sr.
Joseph Frank Silek Sr., 69, of Dungadin Subdivision, Front Royal, died March 9 in Warren Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was held March 12 at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Front Royal with the Rev. William F. Ruehl officiating. Burial was in the Prospect Hill Cemetery. f Mr. Silek was bom July 6, 1920, 'in Acosta, Pa., the son of the late Frank and Mary Salek Silek. He was associated with his family business, the Warren Quality Shop in Front Royal, for 52 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Saint John’s Catholic Church, the Front Royal Rotary Club and the board of directors of ,Peoples Bank of Front Royal. ; He was a member of the board of trustees of Randolph-Macon Academy, a member of the Downtown Business Association, the Retail Merchants Association of the Chamber of Commerce and past board member of the Front Royal Cardinals Baseball Team, the board of diTectors of Warren Memorial Hospital and the Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn M. Silek; two sons, Joseph F. Silek Jr. of Front Royal and Samuel S. Silek of Roanoke; and three Sisters, Thelma Silek of Bedford, Pa., Sadie Dawahare of Hazard, Ky. and Ruth Kannon of Franklinton, N.C.
Pallbearers were John Smedley Sr., Tom Ashby, Joe MacCoule, Frank Finui, Robert O’Neill, Roger Malouf, Raphael Ferris and Sam Assaid.
