Rappahannock News photo/Lou Hatter NO CAUSE HAS BEEN established for the fire that destroyed this house, owned by James Phillips, on Route 645 in Amissville on March 7. According to Amissville fire captain Scott Chamberlain, the fire started somewhere upstairs, but the damage was so extensive that the precise cause could not be found. Mr. Phillips’ family got out of the house safely, and are staying with friends in the area. A cake raffle, with cake donated by the Country Cafe in Washington, at the high school last weekend raised $150 for the family. Firefighters from Amissville, Flint Hill, Castleton, Washington, Sperryville and Warrenton battled the fire for about three hours. “They put a good stop on it,” Capt. Chamberlain said. V
