Agriculture contributes to state’s econonmy
Over the years agriculture has continued to be our number one industry. From the farm to the retail store the total direct and indirect economic effects associated with Virginia’s food, forest products and fiber industry amounts to about 20 percent of the gross state product and 20 percent of the total employment in the Old Dominion. This represents $2.2 billion in economic activity and about 500,000 jobs.
