County Administrator John McCarthy said he had included this in the budget this year because the supervisors can vote an increase of the board’s compensation only in an election year when they are approving the increase for a future board that will take office after the election.
He noted that the board had not had a raise in 12 years and said that the increase might make it possible for members to be compensated for the gasoline they use travelling to meetings.
