Road

Continued from page A-1

For example Route 622 north off U.S. 211 to the top of the mountain would be named Gid Brown Hollow Road, and from the top of the mountain to Washington it would be named Harris Hollow Road. However, south from U.S. 211 to Rock Mills it would be Shade Road.

The fire and rescue squads have left some road names for the supervisors to select. No names are suggested for Route 670 south off 610 in Chester Gap, Route 613 north off U.S. 211 in AmissviUe, or Route 679 south off U.S. 211 between Massie’s Comer and Route 729.

The Board of Supervisors will schedule a public hearing on these road names, probably next month. Once the road names have been approved the board will contract with an outside firm to do mapping and number the houses on the roads.

County Administrator John McCarthy noted in a letter to the supervisors that the surcharge on telephone bills to pay for the E-911 system is bringing in $9,300 per month, which should enable the county to pay the full cost.
