Yard sales are one of fhe most popular pastimes of our society because they appeal to our human frailty to accumulate more and more possessions. The strange thing about them is that we often end up buying things simply because “it was too good a bargain to pass up." The fact that we have little need for the treasured object escapes us completely.
Are we acquiring these trinkets and white elephants that clutter up our homes and lives because we are really seeking for more meaning in our life? In collecting objects of dubious value, are we overlooking gifts of much greater value?
