Bingo bonanza
The Amissville Volunteer Fire Department will hold a bingo bonanza at the fire hall at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. Refreshments will be sold. Pre-registration and the $25 payment in advance are due by Friday, May 3. For tickets or more information, call 937-4357, 9374410 or 937-5595.
Spring event at church
Washington Baptist Church will be having its annual spring event and Grandma’s Attic at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 27. Items for Grandma’s attic are needed. Plate lunches, barbecue chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, drinks, baked goods, crafts and plants will be available.
Support group to meet
An Adult Children Anonymous (ACA) support group for adults from disfunctional families meets at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at Reynolds Memorial Baptist in Sperryville. The group meets to share experiences, strengths and hopes. For more information call 987-8953 or 987-8721.
Spring band concert
The RCHS spring band concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 16 in the high school auditorium. This concert will feature a wide variety of music from the 19th century French composer Hector Berlioz to a tribute to the music of Elvis Presley. “Come and enjoy a fine night of music,” said an organizer.
Co-op at health fair
The Rappahannock Electric Co-op will be co-sponsoring the Amissville Health Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.
Toy making program
“Making Inexpensive Toys for Young Children” will be the topic of a program at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29 at the Rappahannock Extension Office, presented by Helen W. Smith, extension agent.
The program is co-sponsored by the Rappahannock Extension Office and Rappahannock Department of Social Services. Home child care providers, babysitters, parents and grandparents of young children, and the public, are invited to attend.
Most people think that play is simply having fun. That may be true for adults, but play is much more than that for children. Through play, children learn about themselves, others and the world in which they live.
Windmore group to meet
The Windmore Writers Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on April 24 to review narrative voices. At 6:30 p.m. on May 8 the group will discuss the travel article. For more information on these two meetings call Dianna at 703-825-4306.

Bloodmobile May 8
The Rappahannock County Extension Homemakers Clubs will sponsor a Red Cross Bloodmobile at the Washington Fire Hall from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8.
Any healthy adult may generally donate blood, and all regular donors who have not given within the last two months are eligible to donate again.
