Eight elementary band students

represented Rappahannock County for the first time in District IX’s annual Solo and Ensemble Festival held Saturday, April 11, at Seneca Ridge Middle School in Sterling. Several youngsters participating won superior and excellent ratings for their renditions and will receive medals at the elementary school’s spring awards assembly in recognition of their achievements.

Two Rappahannock men both from Flint Hill, took top awards recently at the Elk’s Lodge in Front Royal. Ed Marcey was named “Elk of the Year” and Wayne Sutphin was the winner of the pool tournament.
