Art show
thank yous
To the Editor:
As my art exhibition at Middle Street Gallery comes to a close this Sunday, April 28, I would like to thank the many members of our community who helped me in my endeavor.
My thanks go to my family for their sacrifices and good ideas; the members of Middle Street Gallery for making a professional exhibition space exist here; the administration and School Board of the Rappahannock public schools for funding my residency in the elementary school; the faculty and students of RCES, whose encouragement and enthusiasm made painting in the halls a pleasure; the Virginia Commission of the Arts for also funding this project; the members of Sunday Dreamers for their collaborative and dramatic skill (Tutt Harris, Cathy Dancing Reed, Chris White and Carol Lucking); the technical helpers - Mike Dunnigan, Tom Sawyer and Jensen Kvames; the parents of the child performers, especially Margaret Dunn, who handled mixups with great humor; RAAC for its support on many fronts; Sally Nash for donating rehearsal space at Workspace for Choreographers; Wendy Weinberg for her support of the benefit performance of “Dreaming and the Pursuit of Light” that raised funds for Save the Children; CCLC for rehearsal space; Janet Bouffard for her word processing skills; Linda Ramer for her curatorial assistance; Ozzie Pace for his skilled craftsmanship in framing my paintings; the Lyman family for their help carrying fishes and loaves to the opening; Rev. Forrest Freeman for introducing the performance; Diane Wood for her spiritual understanding; Chuck Partington, who enriched my perception of my work; and to the Rappahannock News, which gave this project coverage above and beyond the call of duty.
I am fortunate to live in a community where I am free and safe to experiment and grow artistically and spiritually, knowing I will receive honest feedback and genuine support.
