To the Editor:
Through the pages of your paper I would like to tell the citizenry that each household in the county this week or next will get a letter in the mail addressed to “Postal Patron.” This may look like just another piece of junk mail but it is not; please don’t “file” it in the wastebasket. It is a plea from the Red Cross for help from the people, help in the form of people’s money and also, for sure, people’s interest and activity in Red Cross things.
We wouldn’t send out a countywide blanket letter, except that we don’t have a computerized list of names to write to, and anyhow a letter to everyone is the only way to invite everyone, rich and not rich, young and not-so-young, to become a part of the great body that is the American Red Cross.
Please use the envelope inside the postal patron letter, fill in the information requested, enclose money, as much as you can give, and send it in. Everyone knows the great work the Red Cross does; nothing happens without help from the people.
Also please remember and come to the annual meeting at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28 at Napoleon’s Restaurant, 67 Waterloo St., Warrenton.
