The Rappahannock County School Board met on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at the Rappahannock Elementary School auditorium to discuss curriculum changes due to testing requirements for the Standards of Learning and other issues before the board.

Dr. David Gangel, superintendent of schools, presented a lengthy explanation of the SOL testing which will take place this spring. Children in third grade will be given multiple choice tests in math, science, English, history and social studies as well as a writing sub-test.

Fifth grade will also take a computer/technology test and be asked to give a direct writing sample. Eighth grade tests will include the subjects covered in the fifth grade test and a written response to a,writing prompt.
