The seventh annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration was held Sunday at The Theatre in Washington, Va. The proceeds from the program go toward raising funds for the Julia E. Boddie Scholarship Fund which provides a yearly scholarship to a graduating college-bound senior from Rappahannock County High School. This year’s program featured Gretchen Corum-Gunn, left, from Maryland who travels to events such as this one and portrays famous black women in history. She portrayed Harriet Tubman at the program held Sunday. Robert Glasker, a teacher at Rappahannock County High School presented what audience members termed a moving rendition of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Marie Davis Roaman, bottom right, sang The Impossible Dream and the Men’s Chorus of Shiloh Baptist Church, Brandy Station, upper right, performed Gospel music. Nils Aylor, at right, was the emcee for the program.
